green your appliances with Inhabitat

Inhabitat is writing a series called Green Your Appliances to help you do just that. They’re looking at each common household appliance one by one and examining its energy use, and giving advice on how to choose a more eco-friendly one when it comes time to make a new purchase. I personally wish I had more control over our appliances, but since we rent, they are our landlord’s deal (and yes, we have made suggestions). While our retro 1960’s refrigerator has its charm, it would be great to replace it with something more efficient (and clean). And how great would it be if I got to put my clothes in one of these super hot energy efficient LG Steam Direct Drive (limited edition) washing machines instead of our “rustic” coin-operated relics in the basement floor of our row home? Why can’t all washers be this efficient and look this cool? If they did, I might be better about keeping up with my laundry…or not.

I also found some good info on Bosch and appliance rebates at http://www.getwithgreen.com. I think it was under their appliance section and the rebate section. They also talked about GE in the same area.
These would look super cute in the “Nook.”
Cheers!
